LEATHER LOVE! MODE EN MODULE jewellery. Interweaved, sliced, shredded leather
London based duo, Matthew Gill and Ann Nelvig have merged their talents to create the quite unique and structural jewellery company with the name Mode en Module. Mathew Gill a graphic designer and Ann Nelving a fashion designer have a very dynamic and precise concept regarding their designs and what they stand for. The company’s moto is strong, vibrant and challenging with three words transforming fiction into reality due to the successful interpretation of these accessories. ‘Cover Your Back’. Physically and Spiritually
The jewellery mostly consists of leather that is intertwined, weaved and shredded making the final outcome look like an intimate and personal object acting as a shield between the world and your inner self.
Creations that encompass a strong identity while keeping an absolute personal style.
Personally, I love that the material itself and the beauty of the soft leather is the main focus within the pieces, with limited use of hardwear & metals as decoration. The techniques used create structural forms, following the bodies contours.
When I studied textiles ( a while back!) i experimented with sliced, woven strips of leather to create 3d leather structures and fabrics. I hope to combine my illustrated tattoo work with my ‘fabric’s .. when i get some ‘spare’ time !
I have left them up in the studio, to remind me i need to get back to them!
